Costume Ideas Page
I
love to help people put together costumes, and I am actually a costume
designer by education. I don't currently have pics of my costumes on my
website
because of time constraints, but I love to sew (especially fancy period
dresses) and do hope to add them in the future. If you're stuck for an
idea take a look at the suggestions below. Or email me, Jeanne.
1. Elegant
Peacock Masquerade
Using the Peacock Dreams mask or the
Peacock Rose Masquerade mask on the Phantom
Roses page
paired with the hunter green velvet cloak
you could wear any fancy dress, or even an elegant pant suit, in either
a solid black with gold accessories, or an outfit with any of the
colors featured in the peacock masks: gold, green, purple, or blue. You
can see someone wearing the Peacock Dreams mask with a dress they made
in the customer pictures section. I have
some fabulous fabric that is printed all over with a peacock feather
design that I haven't quite decided what to do with yet. I may
use it as a front detail on a period dress offered here in the future.
Maybe pair it with some irridescent bluish purple taffeta and gold trim.
2.
Mystic Goddess Or Sorceress Masquerade
We're
all goddesses really, aren't we? You can use any dark blue or black or
silver dress that makes you feel beautiful. Wear the dark blue velvet cloak with it and use a blue
mystic colored version of the Rose Masquerade
mask with silver roses, or the actual Mystic
Masquerade mask pictured below with moon and star rhinestones on
it. The Crystal Star Jewelry would go
great with it, too. You could also use the Bast
mask as a cat goddess, or a silver or blue mystic color version of
either the Cat Dancer Mask or the Glamor Puss mask, there is a blue mystic version
of the Glamor Puss mask in the photo on the home
page . The Black Cat Jewelry
would finish off the theme quite nicely
.
3. Ice
Queen Masquerade
With
this one you definately need an outfit with an attitude. You
could go either elegant and untouchable, or sexy and dangerous here.
Use the Ice Queen mask, of course. It
comes in the regular full face or half mask
version. Pair it with a velvet cloak in
either ice blue or white (please email me about the
availbility of the colors) and the Crystal
Star jewelry
and you have a costume guaranteed to get some attention. If you ever
notice colors in movies, take a look at a crowd scene and check out
what the main character is wearing to make them stand out from the rest
of the people. An old costume designer trick is to put the main
character in either white, or a much lighter color than the rest of the
people in a scene. That way you can spot them quickly.

4.Bubble
Bath Masquerade
Ok, if you really want to be flirty and cute here's a daring one for
you. Use the Bu-Bu-Bubbles mask (which, by
the way, can be ordered in a fancier version with feathers and lace and
rhinestones, just email me
about
it). Then wear a white towel. That's it. Maybe some cute
fuzzy slippers or some of those high heeled ones with feather trim f
you want to be sexier. You will need to keep the towel from falling
off, I would probably use some elastic and turn it into one of those
towel wraps with a velcro closure, but if you don't sew, then safety
pins should do the trick. You might want to wear a bathing suit
underneath just in case. And sheer to the waist pantyhose. You could
also wear a towel on your hair, or you could use some of those plastic
Christmas ball ornaments that open in half and hot glue them on
barettes to put your hair up with. You could also streak your hair with
glitter. You might want to hot glue some of those pastic ornament halfs
in different sizes onto your towel as bubbles. You could outline them
with irridescent fabric glitter glue that you can find at any craft
store and even at Walmart. Don't glue any in back, though, not if you
want to be able to sit down. You could really have fun and decorate a
lot with this, or you could just slap it together at the last minute
and it will look cute either way.
